“The best compliment I can receive? ‘It feels like home here.'”

In a coworking space, the Community Manager is the person who makes sure members have everything they need for a smooth and productive workday: support, quick answers, a well-prepared workspace, and an atmosphere where people genuinely feel welcome.

At aSpace Floreasca, a coworking space and private office hub in Bucharest, being a Community Manager means much more than managing a location. It means caring for people, paying attention to the little details, and creating an environment where every member can focus on what truly matters.

Today, we’d like you to meet Mari, the Community Manager at aSpace Floreasca, who shares what this role really looks like beyond the day-to-day responsibilities—and what it means to create a space where people genuinely feel at home.

I’m Mari, the Community Manager at aSpace Floreasca.

And if you asked me what the best compliment I could ever receive is, my answer would be immediate:

“It feels like home here.”

That’s exactly what I try to create every single day.

What does a Community Manager do in a coworking space?

If you asked me what I enjoy most about my role, it wouldn’t be organizing the space or solving problems.

It’s the opportunity to help create a place where people genuinely enjoy being.

Not just a place to work.

But somewhere they can start their morning feeling comfortable, welcomed, and confident that, if they need anything, someone will always be there to help.

Every morning, I ask myself the same question:

“What can I do today to make people feel good about being here?”

Sometimes it’s something simple.

A cup of coffee.

A smile.

A two-minute conversation.

Other times, it’s noticing that someone needs help before they even ask for it.

To me, that’s what being a Community Manager is really about.

Not just solving problems when they happen.

But noticing the little things before they become problems.

How does a Community Manager support members in a coworking community?

My role goes far beyond reception or day-to-day operations.

It’s about making sure everything works exactly as it should.

Making sure the space is ready.

Making sure every member has everything they need for a productive day.

And sometimes, it’s simply about being there.

Answering a question.

Finding a solution.

Or noticing that someone needs help before they even ask.

I’ve always tried to be attentive and responsive to the people around me. More often than not, I like offering help before anyone has to ask for it.

I think that’s my favorite part of what I do.

Sometimes… unexpected things happen 😄

After spending enough time in a coworking space, you quickly realize that no two days are ever the same.

One of my funniest memories happened one morning when I arrived at the office, did my usual walk through the space, and found one of our members asleep on one of the lounge sofas.

He had a pillow, a blanket, and even his toothbrush and toothpaste neatly placed on the coffee table beside him.

I have to admit—I laughed.

He was one of our regular members who often worked late into the evening, and apparently, he had decided staying over was easier than going home.

In a way, that moment confirmed something for me.

People really do feel comfortable here.

Maybe a little too comfortable sometimes. 😄

Why does the atmosphere matter in a coworking space?

A beautiful office is important.

So are fast internet, well-equipped meeting rooms, and good coffee.

But in my opinion, it’s the atmosphere that makes people want to come back day after day.

I’d like to believe that everyone contributes a little to the energy of a space.

I try to contribute through kindness, empathy, and attention to detail.

It’s important to me that people feel heard.

That their feedback matters.

That the space evolves together with them.

And that they’re not just members.

They’re part of a community.

Why does aSpace Floreasca mean so much to me?

The truth is, aSpace Floreasca has become much more than just my workplace.

I’ve been here since the very beginning.

I’ve watched it grow.

I’ve poured my heart into every little detail and continue to do so every day—as if I were taking care of my own home.

Maybe that’s why it would be so difficult for me to leave.

Because I wouldn’t just be leaving a workspace behind.

I’d be leaving a place where I’ve invested my time, my energy, and a huge part of myself.
